MedPAC Talks Beneficiary Experience, Physician Pay at March Meeting

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) held its sixth of seven public meetings of the 2024–2025 meeting cycle from March 6–7. Commissioners heard presentations about and discussed key concepts germane to their upcoming report, including beneficiary experience and methodology for updating physician payment rates. The commissioners held sessions on: 

  • Updating payment methodologies for the physician fee schedule 
  • Reducing cost-sharing for outpatient services at critical access hospitals 
  • The role of Medicare insurance brokers 
  • Supplemental Medigap enrollment 
  • Ground ambulance service payments 
  • Home health care utilization by Medicare Advantage enrollees 
  • Medicare Advantage institutional special needs plans
