America’s Essential Hospitals has interest groups on a variety of topics important to essential hospitals. Any employee of a member hospital is free to join these groups for regular calls, webinars, and in-person meetings at events, such as VITAL.
Workforce Resiliency Action Group
Essential Hospitals Institute is excited to announce that the Workforce Resiliency Action Group, supported by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is now open for applications on a rolling basis. The shift to rolling applications ensures all interested members can access the extensive resources and expertise this group offers for creating a resilient and diverse workforce.
This action group, which meets monthly via Zoom, provides leaders at America’s Essential Hospitals member hospitals with tactical and operational strategies to address structural racism and reform the workforce. Association members actively engaged in workforce equity efforts are invited to apply. Action group content will be targeted toward leaders representing members hospitals’ diversity, equity, and inclusion divisions, human resources departments, and other similar teams.
Directed Payments Interest Group
The Directed Payments Interest Group is a resource for essential hospital members to share insights and stay informed on the latest in directed payments. Members will meet on an ad hoc basis to discuss current and emerging directed payment policy and financing and engage in peer-to-peer learning. Stay abreast of association resources and inform directed payment policy.
Inflation Reduction Act Learning Lab
Essential Hospitals Institute, in collaboration with Health Care Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth, will host an Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Learning Lab beginning in July 2024. Receive unique in-depth guidance from experts across the sector, including within the America’s Essential Hospitals membership.
This opportunity is open to all essential hospitals and aims to cultivate learning across all phases of sustainability projects, from initiation to completion. It will benefit members engaged in new construction, energy efficiency improvements, and sustainable transportation projects that can save money and advance sustainability goals.
Combating Structural Racism Interest Group
The Combating Structural Racism Interest Group consists of more than 100 members with different areas of professional expertise ranging from diversity, equity, and inclusion to government relations to quality improvement. Together, the group examines organizational practices, internal policies, clinical processes, and norms to better understand how structural racism affects their work and to make changes that promote antiracist health care transformation. The monthly meetings are a safe space for members to learn from their peers and share honestly about barriers and facilitators to their work.
340B Drug Pricing Program Interest Group
The 340B Interest Group is a platform for essential hospital leaders to learn and share knowledge about the 340 Drug Pricing Program.
This is accomplished through the following:
- Function as a forum for sharing knowledge about the program, including policy changes, program administration and general advocacy positioning
- Build capacity and leadership across essential hospitals in an effort to better understand and strengthen the program
- Serve as a sounding board for 340B-related advocacy and policy development
The Interest Group meets every other month on Tuesday from 2–3 pm ET to discuss issues regarding the 340B Program. The interest group calls are most useful for government relations, pharmacy and finance professionals at essential hospitals.
Government Relations Interest Group
America’s Essential Hospitals hosts bi-weekly Government Relations conference calls for essential hospital leaders to stay abreast of the latest news from Washington, D.C. Participants can join their fellow colleagues for an interactive dialogue on the most important and pressing health care issues facing safety net hospitals and health systems. All calls take place at 2 pm ET.
