NIMHD Improving Health Outcomes in Populations that Experience Health Care Disparities
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities is funding an initiative to support research that will (1) gain an understanding of how the patient-clinician relationship (PCR) in the primary care and chronic disease care settings affects clinical and non-clinical health outcomes (2) identify best practices/ interventions that build and improve the PCR—leading to better health outcomes and increased health equity in populations that experience health disparities.
Funding Amount:
Varied for up to five years based on actual needs of the proposed project.

RWJF — Pioneering Ideas: Exploring the Future to Build a Culture of Health
This funding opportunity seeks proposals primed to impact health equity moving forward. We are interested in ideas that address any of these four areas of focus: Future of Evidence; Future of Social Interaction; Future of Food; Future of Work.
Funding Amount:
Varied for up to 3 years based on actual needs of the proposed project.

PCORI – Managing Pain
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $100 million to fund studies that address meaningful decisional dilemmas faced by patients, clinicians and members of the broader health and healthcare community when seeking and obtaining pain-related care and to improve patient-centered outcomes.
Funding Amount:
Up to $12 million in direct costs, for approximately 5 years.

PCORI – Improving Mental and Behavioral Health
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $100 million to awardees to fund studies comparing two or more approaches for prevention, diagnosis, treatment or care delivery related to mental and behavioral health conditions. Studies should address a critical clinical or care delivery problem.
Funding Amount:
Up to $12 million in direct costs, for up to 5 years.

PCORI – Phased Large Awards for Comparative Effectiveness Research
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $160 million to fund research with at least one of PCORI’s National Priorities for Health described within the PFA (Increase Evidence for Existing Interventions and Emerging Innovations in Health; Accelerate Progress Toward an Integrated Learning Health System; Achieve Health Equity; or Advance the Science of Dissemination, Implementation and Health Communication).
Funding Amount:
Up to $12 million in direct costs, for up to 5 years.

PCORI – Broad Pragmatic Studies
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $200 million to fund high-quality patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects that will address critical decisions faced by patients, families, caregivers, clinicians, and the health and healthcare community and for which there is insufficient evidence.
Funding Amount:
Up to $22 million in direct costs, for up to 6.5 years.

PCORI – Advancing the Science of Engagement in Research
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $26 million to fund projects focused on engagement of partners in RESEARCH; i.e., the life-cycle of planning, conducting and disseminating research projects.

Up to $1.5 million in direct costs, for up to 3 years.

PCORI – Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering up to $12 million to fund studies that address high-priority methodological gaps in patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research.
Funding Amount:
Up to $750,000 in direct costs, for up to 3 years.

RWJF’s Evidence for Action: Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity
Evidence for Action (E4A) prioritizes research to evaluate specific interventions (e.g., policies, programs, practices) that have the potential to counteract the harms of structural and systemic racism and improve health, well-being, and equity outcomes.
Funding Amount:
Varied for up to 36 months based on actual needs of the proposed project.

Bristol Myers Squibb – Increasing Health Equity
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is committed to increasing health equity for better patient outcomes through providing funding to support effective solutions with the goal of removing barriers and improving access to quality care for medically underserved and diverse patient populations. BMS accepts applications throughout the year to support initiatives focused on therapeutic areas of interest in one or more of the categories: Disease awareness & education, access to quality care, patient support services, diversity in clinical trials, diversity in healthcare & research workforce, and health equity policy & advocacy support.
