MedPAC Talks Medicare Advantage, Payment Accuracy at October Meeting

October 20, 2026
Evan Schweikert

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) met Oct. 8–9 to discuss key issues informing the commission’s upcoming March 2027 Report to Congress. MedPAC typically meets seven times per cycle while developing its statutorily required semiannual reports. Commissioners heard presentations on and discussed:

  • Physician participation in Medicare Advantage networks
  • Payment accuracy of the Physician Fee Schedule and Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule
  • Clinician quality initiatives
  • Late enrollment penalties for beneficiaries
  • A workplan for assessing the accuracy of payment systems for Home Health and Nursing Facility Payment systems.

In discussing Physician Fee Schedule payment adequacy, commissioners focused on how payment incentives affect telehealth utilization and access.
