About the Interest group

Explore and advance the responsible use of AI in delivering superior care for all, reducing clinician burden, and closing health outcome gaps.

Through peer exchange, shared learning, and practical insights, participants will develop, deploy, and evaluate AI best practices and solutions that advance health outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, support financial sustainability, and foster trust.

Target Audience

Member hospital employees interested in artificial intelligence in the health care setting.

Objectives

• Assess the AI Landscape and Build Readiness: Understand how essential hospitals use AI; identify emerging clinical and operational applications; and assess the barriers, facilitators, and organizational capabilities that influence effective implementation.
• Promote Responsible, Mission-Aligned AI Governance: Advance governance approaches that advance ethical, safe, and transparent AI use, including strategies to address bias, navigate policy and regulatory developments, and guide AI procurement, evaluation, and oversight.
• Accelerate Practical AI Adoption Through Peer Learning: Facilitate cross-sector and cross-functional collaboration to share best practices, exchange implementation experiences, and identify strategies for applying AI to clinical and nonclinical challenges.
• Advance Health Equity and Improve Outcomes: Explore how AI can improve patient care, reduce health disparities, strengthen patient trust, and advance equitable health outcomes at essential hospitals while staying aligned with their safety net mission.

Meeting Frequency

Virtually on the last Thursday of every other month, from 1–2 pm ET.

*Note: to accommodate Thanksgiving, the November meeting is rescheduled to Thursday, Dec. 4.
