This webinar was the third and final webinar in a miniseries on value champions — change agents who optimize medical care to do less of what potentially harms and more of what truly helps patients.
We explored the role of patient perspectives and voices in value champion efforts and learned how essential hospitals are engaging patients. MacColl Center for Health Care Innovation Value Champion faculty from the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation illustrated the spectrum of patient engagement and benefits and presented three methods to engage patients.
We also investigated patient perspectives on medical overuse and discuss how incorporating patient voices into value champion efforts is a critical step to decreasing medical overuse. Participants heard how patient stories affected overuse reduction at association member NYC Health + Hospitals.
