The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released an FAQ document on the independent dispute resolution (IDR) administrative fee after a court vacated the increased amount on Aug. 3.
The administrative fee will return from $350 to $50 as established in the Calendar Year 2023 Fee Guidance for the Federal IDR Process under the No Surprises Act. However, the IDR portal remains closed for new disputes. The FAQ provide further guidance on disputes initiated but not resolved before Aug. 2, 2023, on issues such as invoiced fees, refunds, and situations in which only one party paid the fee.
