On Feb. 6, America’s Essential Hospitals joined the Partnership for Medicaid in a statement calling on Congress to reject cuts to Medicaid during the budget reconciliation process. The statement raised concerns about proposals that would shift more of the program’s costs onto state and local governments, providers, and patients that cannot afford them. In addition, the statement raised concerns about policies that would limit each state’s ability to expand coverage and ensure adequate payment for covered services.
The Partnership for Medicaid is a nonpartisan, nationwide coalition of organizations representing clinicians, health care providers, safety net health plans, and counties. The coalition’s goal is to preserve and improve the Medicaid program. The partnership plans to work with policymakers to identify more sustainable strategies to strengthen Medicaid and improve on its promise of providing high-quality coverage and access to care for populations in need.
