America’s Essential Hospitals’ Washington, D.C., staff is busy preparing tailored advocacy strategies for various Election Day outcomes.
Readers should note that Election Day will likely become “Election Week,” as it could take days to confirm the presidential and congressional race results. Given the narrow margins in the House and Senate, the results could significantly impact the political landscape and influence the upcoming post-election legislative session.
Letter to Congress on Medicaid DSH
America’s Essential Hospitals continues to urge its members to sign a letter that calls on Congress to eliminate the devastating $8 billion cut to Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) funding scheduled for Jan. 1, 2025. The letter asks Congress to eliminate not only the cut scheduled for 2025 but also the remaining two years of cuts, totaling $24 billion. Essential hospital CEOs and authorized representatives can sign the letter electronically here.
The association will amplify member advocacy to stop the DSH cuts and achieve other legislative goals in the post-election period with a targeted, CEO-focused fly-in, the Federal Advocacy Assembly, on Dec. 9 and 10.
Committee Activity This Week
The House and Senate are out of session through Tuesday, Nov. 11.
