The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) held its third public meeting of their 2024–2025 meeting cycle from Nov. 7–8. Commissioners heard presentations about and discussed key concepts germane to their upcoming report, including:
- Reforming physician fee schedule payments to ensure adequate access of care for Medicare beneficiaries
- Participation bonuses for clinicians in alternative payment models, and the bonus’ statutory sunset after 2026
- A discussion of the structural differences between the stand-alone prescription drug plan and Medicare Advantage (MA) drug plans
- A review of the commission’s workplan to assess MA provider networks in the future
- How the 190-day lifetime limit on covered inpatient psychiatric care affects highly vulnerable beneficiaries
