The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) June report to Congress makes recommendations on care transitions for children and youth with special health care needs. MACPAC recommends:
- States develop and implement strategies for transitions from pediatric to adult care
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issue guidance on existing authorities to cover transitions of care
- States collect and report data on who uses these services and how often they are used
- CMS should require interagency agreements between state Medicaid agencies and Title V agencies
The report also includes chapters on residential behavioral health treatment for children, medication access for opioid use disorder, the program of all-inclusive care for the elderly, and home- and community-based services.
