The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) hosted its first meeting of the term Sept. 18–19, where commissioners met to hear public presentations and lead public discussion about key Medicaid issues, including:
- Work and community engagement requirements in Medicaid
- The home- and community- based services workforce
- Several issues related to children’s access to care, including behavioral health, foster care, and justice-involved youth
The Commission provided a review of H.R.1 Medicaid work requirements and moderated a panel of state Medicaid leaders to discuss implementation. Panelists discussed the critical role of IT systems and the role they played in Georgia’s implementation of work requirements. States are leaning into lessons learned from the pandemic on beneficiary outreach and staff training.

MACPAC meets six times a year and submits reports to Congress in March and June. MACPAC’s next public meeting is Oct. 30.
