March 17, 2025
Julie Kozminski

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended to April 18 the application period for planning grants to promote continuity of care for people who have been incarcerated.

In September 2024, CMS made $106.5 million available for planning grants to state Medicaid agencies to mitigate operational barriers and promote continuity of care for Medicaid individuals who are inmates of a public institution, such as a state prison, local or county jail, tribal jail, or youth correctional or detention facility.

The second application period opened on Jan. 16 and was scheduled to end March 17. For information, see CMS’ planning grant website.
