The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on May 30 extended certain Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) eligibility processing data reporting requirements previously scheduled to end June 30.
CMS began collecting data to monitor progress toward completing required eligibility and enrollment actions as states began returning to normal Medicaid operations after the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
CMS will continue to collect and report on monthly metrics related to Medicaid and CHIP renewals initiated, renewals due, renewal outcomes, renewal backlogs, pending fair hearings, and enrollment in separate CHIP programs.
CMS will discontinue reporting on Medicaid application baseline metrics on July 1.
States with their own state-based marketplaces (SBM) and platforms will continue to use the SBM priority metrics to submit data related to monthly activities until June 30, or until the state completes all unwinding-related renewals.
