Tell Congress This Recess:

Don’t Cut Medicaid

Association Shares Concerns Over Potential Medicaid Cuts with Congressional Leadership

April 3, 2025
Staff

As Congress continues to explore options to cut federal spending, and while the House and Senate work to achieve a concurrent resolution to allow the budget reconciliation process to continue, the association shared our deep concerns with policies that would dramatically change the Medicaid program in a manner that hurts patients and essential health care providers nationwide.

Specifically, our letter to leaders in Congress on April 2 expressed concerns about policies targeting Medicaid state directed payments (SDPs) and provider taxes, as well as changes to the federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP), per capita caps, and other policies.

The proposed changes to Medicaid are significant and threaten the ability of essential hospitals and other safety net providers to stay open, especially in underserved areas in all corners of the nation.
