America’s Essential Hospitals released new members-only FAQ on the state directed payment (SDP) provisions in H.R. 1. The law requires the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to add new regulatory limits on SDPs for inpatient and outpatient hospital services, nursing facility services, and qualified practitioner services at academic medical centers.
The FAQ cover:
- To which SDPs the law applies
- What is considered a “complete preprint” for the purposes of grandfathering
- The definition of “total published Medicare payment rate”
The FAQ also consider several methodologies for phasing SDPs down to the required limits.
