America’s Essential Hospitals has endorsed the Keeping Obstetrics Local Act, which would make significant strides toward preventing labor and delivery closures in the rural and underserved communities our member hospitals serve.
The bill, introduced by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and other Democratic Senate members, tackles the complex challenge of maternal mortality, especially among marginalized populations. It would address the issue by bolstering the health care workforce and providing monetary support for hospitals that invest in the maternal health care needs of their communities.
