America’s Essential Hospitals
Washington, D.C. – The Health Resources and Services Administration’s new 340B rebate pilot program could directly harm patients and the essential hospitals they depend upon for affordable, high-quality care. It will require more bureaucracy, more paperwork, and will make the 340B program much more expensive to administer. It is voluntary for manufacturers, but not for hospitals. Drug manufacturers will be the only beneficiaries of this program, while hospitals will have to contend with a whole new set of administrative burdens.
We urge the administration to rethink its approach. We remain ready to work with all stakeholders to strengthen the 340B program for the benefit of our patients.
