Administration Update: HHS Staff Cuts, Data Sharing Order

April 8, 2025

America’s Essential Hospitals is closely monitoring the executive orders signed by President Trump since he took office on Jan. 20, and will provide members with regular updates on the status of these orders as they are reviewed by federal courts.

Since the association’s last update on March 24, the Department of Health and Human Services began a large-scale reduction in force, and many employees across federal agencies were given a second opportunity to opt into the Deferred Resignation Program. These changes could slow down regulatory processes.

President Trump signed an executive order to promote federal inter-agency data sharing for all state programs receiving federal funding to detect overpayments and fraud.

The association’s latest review of the Trump administration’s executive actions and their potential effects on essential hospitals is available for members.
