Administration Update: Executive Order Implementation, Litigation

June 24, 2025
Kate Kelly

America’s Essential Hospitals is closely monitoring the executive orders signed by President Trump since he took office on Jan. 20, and will provide members with regular updates on the status of these orders as they are reviewed by federal courts.

Since the association’s last update on June 10, in furtherance of Executive Order 14218, Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services shared personal data on Medicaid enrollees in certain states, including immigration status, to the Department of Homeland Security. The Department of Health and Human Services remains blocked from implementing its massive reorganization plan after a circuit court declined the government’s appeal.

The Supreme Court’s June 18 decision in United States v. Skrmetti case could affect the ongoing litigation against the executive order that instructs entities receiving federal funds to end gender-affirming care for individuals under the age of 19.

The association’s latest review of the Trump administration’s executive actions and their potential effects on essential hospitals is available for members
