In a Feb. 18 executive order, President Donald Trump directed the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy to submit policy recommendations within 90 days on protecting access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Expanding Access to In Vitro Fertilization specifically calls for policies to:
- Ensure reliable access to IVF treatment nationwide
- Aggressively lower out-of-pocket costs and health plan expenses for fertility treatments
- Identify and ease unnecessary statutory or regulatory barriers that increase the cost of IVF
The Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy has until May 19 to submit recommendations to the president. The administration has not yet specified whether legislative action or additional funding will follow these recommendations.
