For decades, association member UCSF Health, in San Francisco, has made great strides in advancing health care sustainability, positioning itself as a leader in the space of clinical efforts to mitigate climate change. Join us to hear from Seema Gandhi, MD, an anesthesiologist and the medical director of sustainability at UCSF Health, who spearheaded the health system’s clinical mitigations effort.
Gandhi will outline the need for clinician engagement in initiating mitigation efforts, key stakeholders required to establish a successful mitigation-focused sustainability team, strategies to obtain leadership support, and the internal collaboration and reporting structure for the mitigation efforts. She also will touch on opportunities to decarbonize health care in areas beyond inhaled anesthetic use, including by reducing energy in the operating room, reprocessing single-use devices, and adopting reusable products for waste reduction.
Seema Gandhi, MD
Clinical Professor, Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care Medical Director of Sustainability UCSF Health
