As surprise medical bills make headlines, providers must ensure they have a clear framework built on transparency and trust for cost conversations with patients. In this third installment of our Cost of Care Conversation webinar series, participants gained practical tips and tools to discuss cost with patients.

First, Mechelle Sanders, PhD, instructor/co-investigator at the University of Rochester’s Department of Family Medicine Research, presented “A Team-based Approach to Integrating Cost-of-Medication Conversations into Primary Care.” Then, Domitilla Masi, MS, senior manager of Avalere Health’s Center for Healthcare Transformation discussed tips for structuring conversations and highlighted important considerations for vulnerable patients.
