Research shows that an institutional focus on well-being has improved resilience of health care staff, which may contribute to decreasing burnout, turnover, and absenteeism and improving physical health. Participants learned how association member ECU Health, formerly Vidant Health, in Greenville, N.C., took a novel approach to deliver well-being resources to staff at work in a spa-like, psychologically safe way.
Through a partnership between the Office of Experience and Employee Assistance Program Counseling and Support Services, ECU Health created a traveling “pop-up” event that included resources on mindfulness practices and employee assistance; 10-minute well-being check-ins with a counselor; and gel eye masks for skin irritation from wearing face masks to mitigate COVID-19. This convenient, non-threatening delivery that has been well-received and accepted throughout ECU Health. Participants joined us to discover this novel approach to support staff emotional well-being,
