States and other payers increasingly are adopting value-based care models to manage the cost and quality of Medicaid programs, often placing providers at risk for performance. Participants learned how the new Essential Hospitals Value-Based Care Collaborative — powered by Premier can help hospitals like theirs navigate and succeed in value-based care payment models.
The collaborative will help develop capabilities to manage financial risk for Medicaid, uninsured, and underinsured populations and integrate social determinants of health with value-based care. It also will support employee health plans and Medicare fee-for-service, Medicare managed care, and commercial populations.
Experts from Premier Inc. gave an overview of the collaborative and shared how they helped Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, in south Los Angeles, develop capabilities to manage its population and improve cost, outcomes, and patient experience.
