Measuring Progress on HCAHPS

Date: Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Time: 8:00 AM ET

HLN: Beyond the Basics Virtual Opportunity #3 of 11

Measurement is vital in any improvement work: no true progress can be shown without proper measurement. However, measurement for improvement is different than measurement for research. Knowledge of your data must go beyond simply having an awareness of your organization’s current performance on the 10 publicly reported HCAHPS domains.

During this distance learning opportunity, registrants learned how to gather, display, and interpret data to ensure that measurement fast-tracks the pace of change in their facility. This distance learning opportunity demonstrated the value of measurement for improvement and how to effectively present results over time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Interpret and characterize the basic elements of a run chart
  • Identify the value of excel and data presentation on improvement work in order to track real time progress on specific interventions at organization
  • Identify strategies for presenting data so staff understand the project and progress toward goals
