Health care providers can prioritize cost conversations as an important part of care delivery by asking the right questions, conveying important information, and connecting patients to appropriate resources. In the second installment of our new Cost of Care Conversations webinar series, participants heard about two tools specifically designed to help clinicians discuss cost with their patients.
First, Susan Perez, PhD, MPH, assistant professor at California State University, Sacramento, presented “5 Tips on How to Talk to Patients.” Then, Kellie Slate-Vitcavage, MS, Project Manager at Maine Quality Counts and Carolyn Gray, MPH, research associate at University of Southern Maine, presented the “Cost of Care Conversations Guide.” Both tools were developed through research supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Cost of Care Projects portfolio.
