In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court gave states the option to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. To date, slightly more than half of states have opted to expand their Medicaid program. In a half-dozen cases, states have negotiated alternative expansions, many of which use Medicaid funds to give beneficiaries access to private insurance. During this webinar, member hospitals in these states described the legislative and regulatory processes of negotiating these expansions, their progress to date, and the impact of these alternative models on essential hospitals and their patients.
