Discover the “Alameda Model,” an innovative approach to psychiatric emergency care launched at essential hospital Alameda Health System, in Oakland, Calif. The Alameda Model redirects patients experiencing a psychiatric emergency from a standard emergency department to a dedicated psychiatric emergency service. This model has resulted in reduced inpatient admissions and length of stay. Alameda Model pioneer Scott Zeller, MD, will outline major program components, discuss relevant outcomes, and share how other essential hospitals can implement the model.
