Achieving Equity in Care in the Safety Net

Date: Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Time: 12:00 AM ET

This webinar was the Essential Hospitals Engagement Network’s (formerly the NSN) kick-off webinar for its health equity improvement work. Participants in this event learned how to identify potential race, ethnicity and language disparities in health care and heard about successful interventions.

Truman Medical Centers and San Mateo Medical Center offered different perspectives on reducing disparities. Truman Medical Centers – which has a mature health equity model – described how they coordinate internal efforts and community initiatives through the CEO perspective, while San Mateo Medical Center, which is just beginning its health equity journey, discussed initial challenges and data collection.
