During its inaugural Fungal Disease Awareness Week, Aug. 14–18, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) encourages health professionals to learn about the importance of early detection of fungal diseases, such as Candida auris, a deadly fungus that can be drug-resistant.
Health care professionals can participate in the event by:
- joining the #FungalWeek Thunderclap campaign on Aug. 14 at 10 am ET. Sign up for this campaign to join peers across the globe in sharing a message across social networks;
- learning about C. auris and how to prevent it, through a Clinician Outreach Communication Activity call on Aug. 15 at 2 pm ET or a webinar on Aug. 16 at 2 pm ET; and
- sharing resources available on the Fungal Disease Awareness Week website, including a new C. auris fact sheet.
