The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Kentucky are seeking applications for the Preparedness Innovator Challenge, a competition for organizations to share how they use the National Health Security Preparedness Index (NHSPI) to advance health security and disaster preparedness in their communities.
The NHSPI evaluates the strength of the health security system on a national and state level, using data from household surveys, medical records, safety inspections, and surveys of health agencies and premises. The index evaluates health security against:
- infectious disease;
- antibiotic resistance;
- insufficient vaccine coverage;
- increased globalization;
- political instability and violence;
- declining infrastructure;
- extreme weather events; and
- cybersecurity threats.
The deadline for teams and individuals to apply for the challenge is July 31.
