The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) observes Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 11-17), encouraging health care professionals to prevent health care–associated infections and create a culture of safety at their institutions.
This year’s theme, We Are All Patients, encourages health care providers to stand with patients by wearing patient gowns and sharing content on social media and with legislators. NPSF also has released a report, Safety is Personal, on the role of patient engagement in safe care.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will hold a patient safety Twitter chat on Friday, March 16 at noon ET. Participants are encouraged to share questions, challenges, and strategies for creating a culture of safety in health care using the hashtag #PSAW18.
