New Online CDC Module Simulates Outbreaks

The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Outbreak Response Training Program recently launched two online training modules to improve decision making during outbreaks.

The first module, Hospital Incident Command Systems: How to Lead When a Crisis Occurs, features Jennifer Hanrahan, DO, MA, director of infection prevention at association member MetroHealth Medical Center, and focuses on effective leadership techniques during health crises.

The second training program, Defending Against Superbugs, uses two interactive case studies in which participants can make clinical decisions in response to a simulated outbreak of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. This module features Christopher Pfeiffer, MD, MHS, assistant professor of medicine at association member Oregon Health and Science University.

Each no-cost simulation should take up to 30 minutes.
