Hospitals Can Fight CAUTI with New AHRQ Toolkit

Hospitals can now access an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) toolkit to help prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

The CAUTI toolkit helps hospitals apply concepts from the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP), which seeks to improve the culture of safety at the unit level through clinical best practices.

The CAUTI toolkit comprises three modules on how to apply CUSP and can be used in tandem with the CUSP toolkit, also provided through AHRQ. The modules focus on implementation, sustainability, and resources to help teach hospital unit team members specific ways to adopt best practices regarding CAUTI prevention. The CAUTI toolkit also takes a deeper look at information specific to emergency departments, intensive care units, and graduate medical training programs.
