Dry Run and Provider Call for Overall Hospital Star Rating System

Hospitals participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) dry run of its proposed overall quality star rating system are encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions about the system and corresponding methodology. During the dry run, which goes through Aug. 17, participants can submit comments via email. CMS will also host an Aug. 13 provider call to discuss the proposed methodology for the overall star rating, corresponding hospital-specific reports, and lessons learned from the dry run. Hospitals and other interested stakeholders will have the opportunity to ask questions on the call.

Hospitals participating in the dry run will receive a custom report, including hospital-level results and an overview of the methodology used to determine the score. Official overall star rating scores are scheduled to be posted to the Hospital Compare website beginning next year.
