CMS Announces $8 Million for Quality Improvement Projects

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will award $8 million to encourage health care providers to partner with Quality Improvement Network-Quality Improvement Organizations (QIN-QIOs).

CMS will distribute the funding in 28 new Special Innovation Project (SIP) awards to QIN-QIO partnerships focused on supporting and scaling quality improvement innovations that provide Medicare beneficiaries with better care, better health, and greater value. These two-year quality improvement projects should align with the CMS Quality Strategy. Projects focused on scaling current projects also should align with the CMS Strategic Innovation Engine, which aims to move projects from research to implementation.

Statements of objectives with more details for the SIP awards will be released to QIN-QIOs in early April.
