A new, comprehensive update is available for the Guide to Preventing Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs), which rank among the most deadly preventable health care-associated infections in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than 30,000 CLABSIs occur in the United States each year. The updated guide, produced by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, is intended to help health care providers apply best practices, such as appropriate hand hygiene, to improve patient safety.
