Hospitals now have until March 13 to submit electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) data from 2016 to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The previous deadline was Feb. 28.
In a blog post on the agency’s website, CMS notes that hospitals reporting eCQMs under the Medicare Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program will have extra time to submit eCQM data for these programs. For the calendar year 2016 reporting period, hospitals are required to select four eCQMs to report electronically for both the IQR Program and the Medicare EHR Incentive Program.
CMS also states that it will be making other changes to eCQM reporting in the fiscal year 2018 Inpatient Prospective Payment System proposed rule this spring.
