Congress returns next week from a two-week recess and will focus on the looming deadline to fund the federal government and possible action on the pending $4 billion cut to Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) funding.
Last month, Congress passed a short-term continuing resolution (CR) that funds government operations at current 2019 levels through Nov. 21. The CR also extends funding for expiring health care programs and delays to Nov. 22 the $4 billion cut to Medicaid DSH funding for fiscal year 2020, among other provisions.
As Congress considers critical legislation important to essential hospitals, we encourage our members to join us in Washington, D.C., for the upcoming fall Policy Assembly, Oct. 22–23. Connect with fellow essential hospital leaders and communicate to Congress the importance of Medicaid DSH funding, the 340B Drug Pricing Program, and other health care policy priorities. Tell the nation’s lawmakers we need their support now.
