In an Aug. 25 communication to a key congressional health committee, America’s Essential Hospitals said national drug shortages disproportionately harm essential hospitals, and it refuted claims that the 340B Drug Pricing Program contributes to shortages.
The association’s comments responded to a request for feedback on a discussion draft led by House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) regarding policies to address drug shortages.
In its feedback, America’s Essential Hospitals commended Congress for its interest in the drug shortage issue. In its defense of the 340B program, the association also pointed to the many ways 340B savings support patient care.
