OCCHE Releases Climate Hazard Resource

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Climate Change and Health Equity (OCCHE) shared a new resource to help health care providers mitigate climate-related threats to patients’ well-being.

“Protecting Vulnerable Patient Populations from Climate Hazards: A Referral Guide for Health” provides strategies for health care providers to educate and refer patients to resources that can remedy health issues related to climate change. The guide includes case studies illustrating practical uses of the resources included.

OCCHE will highlight this resource in a June 15 webinar, “Protecting Patients from Climate-Sensitive Hazards through Clinical Care Coordination,” part of its “Accelerating Healthcare Sector Action on Climate Change and Health Equity” series. OCCHE also highlighted the resource in a May 18 webinar on “Resilience at the Clinical, Facility, and Community Level” and will post a recording.
