New Resources Help Hospitals Prepare for Meaningful Use

Eligible hospitals and professionals can now access new resources to successfully participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs.

The resources, released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), will help participants successfully demonstrate meaningful use of an EHR, based on new program requirements outlined in a recent final rule. America’s Essential Hospitals published a full analysis of the final rule in an Oct. 9 Action Update.

New requirements include modifications to Stage 2 of meaningful use for 2015 through 2017, and requirements for Stage 3, beginning in 2018. The EHR Incentive Programs website now includes these new resources to help meet these requirements:

  • overview of the changes to EHR Incentive Programs in 2015 through 2017
  • attestation worksheets
  • alternate exclusions and specifications fact sheet
  • objectives and measures tables

CMS also is accepting comments on the Stage 3 final rule, which are due by Dec. 15.
