New Resource: State Opioid Coprescribing Mandates

New laws and regulations in seven states require providers to coprescribe or offer an overdose reversal drug with opioids for patients at high risk of overdosing. Our newly updated State Action opioid resource page summarizes recent state policy approaches to prevent opioid overdose and the status of related state laws and regulations.

The opioid epidemic is a major public health concern in communities across the country and a declared public health emergency at the federal level and in many states. In addition to the newly updated list of state laws requiring opioid and opioid antagonist coprescriptions, our collection of resources offers:

  • a list of state legislation, regulations, and guidelines regarding safe opioid prescribing; and
  • our latest newsline coverage and briefs about opioid-related issues at the state level.
