New Commission Will Study Federal Response to Opioid Crisis

President Trump issued an executive order Wednesday establishing a commission to study the effectiveness of the federal response to the opioid crisis and make recommendations for improvements.

The order calls for the commission to make initial recommendations within 90 days and final recommendations by Oct. 1.

The Office of National Drug Control Policy will administer the commission, and President Trump will appoint its members. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will serve as the commission’s chair.
