The Center for Clinical Standards and Quality within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced an upcoming provider webinar on the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program. The webinar will include an overview of QIO Program changes, an update on the transition process, discussion on provider impact, and helpful resources. There will also be an opportunity for providers to ask questions. The webinar will take place Wednesday, July 23, from 11 am to noon, ET. Registration is not required, and the webinar will be recorded.
QIOs have provided an infrastructure for national quality improvement initiatives, and the changes to the program should introduce greater efficiency and give patients a voice through quality of care reviews and the ability to appeal discharge and termination of service. CMS previously released information on QIO Program changes, which will be formally announced on Aug. 1 through the QIO 11th Statement of Work.
