Participants in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) now can review their 2017 final scores and performance feedback. This final score determines the payment adjustment participants will receive in 2019.
MIPS-eligible clinicians or groups, including those subject to the alternative payment model (APM) scoring standard, may request that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) perform a targeted review of their performance feedback and final score. A targeted review may be beneficial if a participant recognizes:
- errors or data quality issues on measures and activities submitted;
- eligibility issues;
- erroneous exclusion from the APM participation list; or
- failure to automatically reweight, despite qualifying for reweighting under the 2017 extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy.
Participants can request a targeted review by logging into the Quality Payment Program website with their Enterprise Identity Management credentials. Requests are due by Sept. 30 and will require additional documentation. If reviews are approved, CMS will update final scores and payment adjustments as soon as possible. Targeted review decisions are final and not eligible for further review.
