The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) is asking stakeholders for their feedback on adequacy and affordability of insurance coverage for children. With funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) set to expire at the end of fiscal year 2015, MACPAC is seeking input on which groups of children would be most affected if CHIP funding were to expire and potential policy options regarding coverage for children through the health insurance marketplaces (exchanges). Specifically, MACPAC is requesting the public’s views on the following issues:
- affordability of coverage and out-of-pocket costs through the marketplaces
- adequacy of covered benefits through the marketplaces
- network adequacy of plans through the marketplaces
- areas of concern with transitions between different types of insurance coverage and policy options to mitigate these concerns
Written comments can be submitted to MACPAC by Dec. 19. Please contact Xiaoyi Huang, JD, director of policy, at xhuang@essentialhospitals.org or 202.585.0127 with questions.
