IOM Reports on Health Literacy, Public Health

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has released Implications of Health Literacy for Public Health, a summary of a November 2013 workshop convened by the IOM’s Roundtable on Health Literacy. The workshop addressed concerns raised in a previously released report, Health Literacy: A Prescription to End Confusion. It featured health literacy initiatives being undertaken by public health organizations and the implications of health literacy on community health and safety, disease prevention, disaster management, and health communication.
