America’s Essential Hospitals and eight other national hospital organizations urged the congressional budget committee in an Oct. 28 letter to protect funding for critical hospital services during the upcoming federal budget negotiations. The letter notes that hospitals have faced more than $95 billion in cuts over the past three years on top of the more than $40 billion in uncompensated care they provide to vulnerable patients each year. In light of this, the organizations asked congressional leaders to oppose any further hospital funding cuts so hospitals can continue to provide access to care for all patients.
